It blows my mind that winter is considered the off-season in the desert. I live here so I may be a bit biased, but COME ON, what is better than comfortable (or colder) temps in a place known for its scorching heat? Snow. Snow is better. It is no secret that snow in the desert is one of my favorite things, and I always feel like I’m having to convince someone why winter is the best season to visit. 1. No crowds or traffic, 2. Solitude for photographs, 3. No scorching heat and don’t have to drink 3-6L of water a day (although I’m convinced I’m a camel with how little water my body requires now, it’s weird), 4. Winter wonderland scenes and the most perfect red/white contrast. The list goes on and on. Have you ever visited the desert in the winter? Which do you prefer, warmer or cooler temps? Why? The cooler temps between November and May win me over every single time, and when it snows like this, I’m a little girl on Christmas morning.

If it wasn't for this guy, I'd probably be more of an indoor kind of dweller during the winter months. In fact before him, I hated and despised winter activities. I spent years of winters, going through various depression medications, trying anything to curb my winter blues. Sure spring, summer, and fall, adventuring in the wild has always been my go to drug of choice to keep my mind settled and my face smiling.... But snow filled winters in Northern Utah, always brought a halt to that happiness. Thank the stars in the sky for sending me this little wild and free child, an outdoor lover by nature, and the most ambitious 3 year old I've ever seen in the outdoors.
